Based on the June 11, 1942 radio episode, “The June Bride,” “The Adventure of the Medical Finger” first appeared in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine in June, 1951.
The interesting plot twist is that there is no plot twist. Not to ruin the story or anything, but…a jilted lover vows to kill the bride on her wedding day, then acts all conciliatory and such, and then kills the bride on her wedding day. There are two other suspects who have no reason to hate the bride, but the reader is led to wonder what the secret twist will be to indict the groom or the bride’s sister. There is no twist: the character with a history of violence acts violently. End of story.
Been a while since I read this one. Isn’t the puzzle center on how the violent character accomplishes his goal?
